The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) (هيئةكهرباءومياهدبي) is a public service infrastructure company that was founded on 1 January 1992 by Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It arose from the merger of the Dubai Electricity Company and the Dubai Water Department that had been operating independently until then. These organizations were established in 1959 by sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, former ruler of Dubai. The objective of the state-run company is making available to the people of Dubai an adequate and reliable supply of electricity and water.

DEWA employs a workforce of over 9,000 employees and provides over 600,000 customers with electricity and over 500,000 customers with water

Roles
Supervise drilling across roads, backfilling, reinstatement works of drill pits, arrange road cutting approvals related to LV, 6.6-11-33kV cabling in coordination with DEWA departments, consultants/contractors/ developers/ government authorities with an objective of achieving cable laying  targets.

Key Responsibilities:
Drilling Approvals: Arrange NOCs drilling across roads and drilling for services crossing such as gas pipelines. Obtain NO Objection Certificates(NOCs) for road cutting work, incase drilling across roads is not possible.

Execution: Supervise service identification, drilling works, backfilling work and reinstatement of drilling works carried out by drilling contractors and cable laying contractors in the field, site measurements and ensure that cable laying projects are completed on time.

Certification: Certify site measurements of contractor works, completion reports as per established procedures in order to clear contractor's invoices related to drilling and civil works.

External approvals: Coordinate with Roads and Transport Authority , Dubai Municipality, services utilities, private developers , contractors , consultants for efficient management of drilling and road cutting approvals for cable laying projects.

Monitoring: Monitor the progress quality of drilling works by DEWA contractors as well as private contractors in order to ensure works are done as per stipulated standards and relevant regulations.

New Contracts: Arrange for new contracts for drilling and consultancy services in association with Tendering and Engineering division.

Drilling Procedures: Review, amend and ensure adherence to quality procedures for drilling across roads and drilling in the vicinity of gas pipelines.

Technical Reporting: Prepare various report related to work done by the section as and when required.
Qualifications
Expatriates:  Diploma in Civil Engineering(Minimum 3 years experience.

UAE Nationals: Diploma in Civil Engineering

Senior Engineer-Planning & Coordination posting at U.A.E
Roles
Study and Review the finalization of power supply Master Plans of Major projects by assessing the Total Connected Load (TCL) in line with type of
                                development and the required transmission substations (400 kV & 132 kV) along with the plots and their phasing plans.

Preparation of Major Project Reports for DEWA Management addressing the power supply issues and highlighting the existing, available and the
required power infrastructure.

Preparation of correspondence between major project developers / consultants and DEWA internal Departments / Divisions regarding the power supply
issues and following-up on Minutes of the meetings.

Study and Review the NOC applications for the connection of power supply requirements received from individual plot owners in line with the approved
power supply Master Plan and to maintain NOC database, tracking sheet, filing, etc.

Visit construction sites to assess the realistic developments of the project developments and to observe conditions impacting construction phasing and
power supply phasing and transmission substation activities.

Organizing meetings and provide required technical assistance during the meetings with major developers and their consultants for streamlining the
power supply issues for the project developments.
Qualifications :
Expatriates: Bachelors in Electrical Engineering (Minimum 4 year’s experience in Power and Water Utility) / Diploma in Electrical Engineering
                                  (Minimum 7 year’s experience in Power and Water Utility)

                                 UAE Nationals: Bachelors in Electrical Engineering (Minimum 1 year experience in Power and Water Utility) / Diploma in Electrical Engineering
