Job title: Power System Planning Consultant
Location: Dubai, UAE

Business Area: Energy Advisory

The consultant/engineer shall perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit analysis, power quality, dynamic stability, protection coordination, grid code compliance and network planning; so shall have hands on experience on performing such studies using industry standard tools such as PSS/E and PowerFactory working on complex T&D, industrial networks and mini grids. He shall have fundamental and conceptual knowledge of renewable power plants and challenges posed by them to the grid network. The role will involve working within the Power System Planning Team and support to the Renewables Team to perform renewable plants grid integration studies. Knowledge of system economics and regulations will be an advantage.

The work will also involve overall support on management of complex commercial and technical projects and resourced from multiple internal business streams.
Technical/Professional Competence

Bachelor/Master Degree in Electrical Engineering from reputed institutions; doctorate preferred;
More than 8 years of significant practical experience in power systems engineering and studies using industry standard tools such as PSS/E and PowerFactory working on complex T&D and industrial networks.
Significant practical relevant experience with Renewables projects (solar and wind) grid integration studies is required;
Expert in load flow studies, system loss calculations, short circuit analysis, transient & dynamic stability analysis, voltage stability analysis, arc flash, and voltage drop analysis;
Experience with scripts for performing studies.
Experience with other power systems study tools such as CYME, ETAP, PSCAD/EMTDC/ATP.EMTP and MATLAB/SIMULINK is also preferred;
Experience with grid economics and regulatory compliance/development of grid codes is preferable.
Functional knowledge of balance of plant, including transformer, switchgear, cables/overhead lines, reactors, inverters, technical specifications, earthing design calculation as per IEC/IEEE;
Proven experience as Project Manager in previous projects;
Ability to write and compose clear and accurate reports in English;
